Devlog 2: Figuring things out

Hey it is me again, Michiel.

So you might be wondering what we have done this week. Well me and my team have been testing out and researching different things that we need to know before making the game.

Wait I have not even introduced you to my team yet. Well time to change that.

Let's start with the artist.

Casandra: they are currently busy deciding the programs we will be using for the game. They are also the one who created the character concept art included in this post.

Ivo: They have been testing out the different shaders and materials in ue5.

Together they are making the art bible, deciding the art stile, choosing the render pipeline and much more.

Now the programmers.

Luca: Our ue5 expert. They have been working on a small prototype to see if our ideas work in ue5.

Michiel (that's me): I have been working on a small prototype in unity. One that you can download right now. It does not contain a lot, but you can play with as many players as you have controllers. Use the left stick to move around and the right stick to look around. Right trigger to shoot bullets.

As for the game, the general concept is the following.

Go to hell is a multiplayer couch coop about two detectives dismantling a secret cult’s ritual. They arrived too late and are then tasked with fighting the demon that the cultists summoned. Player one must then astral project into a different plane to inflict damage on said demon, while player two must protect his friend’s defenceless body from the demon’s minions. They must take turns astral projecting, for it is dangerous to stay in the astral plane. The longer they stay in the astral plane and the more damage they take, the more sanity they lose. Losing sanity will make the detectives stronger, but running out of sanity will knock them unconscious. If the other player also goes unconscious, you lose the game. Fight your way to the demon and defeat it to win the game.

And that was it. See you next week.
